Getting Started

Aglaea is a gifting reminder service that helps you never forget another birthday, anniversary, or special occasion. We send you timely reminders before important dates, paired with curated gift suggestions from luxury British brands. Think of us as your personal assistant for thoughtful gift-giving.

It's simple:

  1. Add occasions: Enter the birthdays, anniversaries, and other dates you want to remember
  2. Get reminded: We'll send you email reminders 10-14 days before each occasion, giving you plenty of time to shop
  3. Shop thoughtfully: Browse our curated gift recommendations from luxury British brands, or shop anywhere you like
  4. Mark as purchased: Once you've bought a gift, tick the "gift purchased" box and we'll stop sending reminders for that occasion

Yes! Our free Remind plan lets you set up to 5 reminders with email notifications. This is perfect for tracking your closest family and friends' birthdays and anniversaries.

If you need more than 5 reminders or want SMS alerts, you can upgrade to our Essential plan (£4.99/month or £49.99/year). There's no pressure to upgrade—many users stay on the free plan indefinitely.

No! You can sign up for our free Remind plan with just your email address—no credit card required. We only ask for payment details if you choose to upgrade to the Essential plan.

Reminders & Features

On our free Remind plan, you can set up to 5 reminders. If you upgrade to Essential (£4.99/month or £49.99/year), you get unlimited reminders for all your important occasions.

We send you multiple email reminders before each occasion:

  • 21 days before: Early heads-up (Premium feature)
  • 14 days before: Planning reminder (Premium feature)
  • 10 days before: Main shopping reminder
  • 7 days before: Last week reminder
  • 3 days before: Final reminder

If you upgrade to Essential, you also receive SMS alerts 7 and 3 days before each occasion.

Absolutely! We love spontaneous gestures. When adding a reminder, you can choose "Just Because" as the occasion type. This is perfect for sending unexpected gifts to maintain relationships outside of obligatory occasions.

You can set these for specific dates (like "send mum flowers every spring") or use them as periodic reminders to think of someone special.

Once you've bought a gift for an upcoming occasion, you can check the "gift purchased" box on your dashboard. This tells Aglaea you're all sorted, and we'll stop sending you reminder emails for that specific occasion.

This prevents reminder fatigue—you won't get unnecessary emails once you've already handled the gift. The reminder card turns grey on your dashboard so you can see at a glance which gifts are sorted.

Currently, reminders include the person's name, the occasion type, and the date. We're working on adding custom notes in a future update, which will let you record gift ideas, preferences, sizes, or any other helpful details.

Gifts & Shopping

No, we don't sell gifts ourselves. Instead, we curate a collection of luxury British brands and direct you to their websites to shop. This means you get the full selection from each brand, not just a limited subset.

Yes! You can upgrade from Remind to Essential anytime from your dashboard. If you're on Essential and want to downgrade to Remind, you can do so at the end of your current billing period—your reminders will remain active until then.

When downgrading from Essential to Remind, if you have more than 5 reminders set up, you'll need to choose which 5 to keep active. The others won't be deleted—they'll just be paused until you upgrade again.

If you're on the Essential plan and want to cancel, simply go to your dashboard, click "Manage Subscription," and select "Cancel Plan." Your reminders will remain active until the end of your current billing period, then you'll automatically move to the free Remind plan (with up to 5 reminders).

If you're on the free Remind plan, there's nothing to cancel—just stop using the service if you no longer need it. Your account and data remain available if you want to come back.

We offer a 14-day money-back guarantee on all paid plans. If you're not satisfied with Essential within the first 14 days, contact us at hello@aglaea.co.uk and we'll refund your payment in full, no questions asked.

After 14 days, subscriptions are non-refundable, but you can cancel anytime to prevent future charges.

Privacy & Security

Absolutely. We use industry-standard security measures to protect your information:

  • Encryption: All data is encrypted in transit and at rest
  • Secure authentication: We use Firebase Authentication, trusted by millions of apps
  • Payment security: We never store your card details—all payments are processed securely through Stripe
  • Access controls: Only you can access your reminders and personal information

We share minimal information with essential service providers:

  • Mailchimp: To send your reminder emails (we share your email address and reminder dates)
  • Stripe: To process payments if you upgrade (they handle payment details securely)

We never sell your data to advertisers or third parties. We don't share your reminder details (who you're buying gifts for, occasions, etc.) with anyone. Your personal information is private and stays private.

Yes. You can delete your account anytime from your dashboard settings. When you delete your account:

  • All your reminders are permanently deleted
  • Your personal information is removed from our systems
  • You're unsubscribed from all email communications
  • If you're on a paid plan, your subscription is immediately cancelled (no refund for remaining time)

This action is permanent and cannot be undone, so make sure you're certain before deleting your account.
